Alana Garrett-Hogg first began her career as a Visual Arts (art) major at the Alabama School of Fine Arts. Upon graduation, she attended Auburn University where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a Concentration in Graphic Design. While a student, she launched her freelance design company called AG Design to help usher her into the world of production, design and business management. She continues to produce high quality designs through AG Design and collaborates with many companies such as Wilbron Institute and Southern Progress.
Upon graduation from Auburn University, she became the Designer for Web and Print then Web Designer and Graphic Designer for Southern Living magazine and other sister publications. She worked with many national and international advertisers (such as Buick, Ford, Dillard’s, Belk’s, Pier One, Pam, Wal-Mart, etc) to produce magazine ads, event promotion, sponsor websites/ads and custom interactive business- to- business and business- to- consumer solutions.
In 2009, she ended her career at Southern Progress Corporation/ Time Inc. to pursue full time ministry and is currently the Web & Design Administrator at The Worship Center Christian Church. She produces billboards, banners, magazines, sermon series graphics, monthly bulletins, flyers, push cards cd/dvd labels, marketing packages and etc. She also has built an virtual e-learning class system, managed the rebuilding of two websites, the creation of a mobile website and the creation of an online campus with live streaming.
Alana’s mission is to use her God-given talents to serve her community. She loves to stay involved in and has played several key roles in the Birmingham Community. She was a City Center Artist at Space One Eleven Non-profit Art, commissioned by the city in 1995 to help construct 6 large terra cotta panels currently displayed on the wall between The Birmingham Museum of Art and Boutwell Auditorium. She is now a member of Space One Eleven’s Advisory Board. She served on the Advisory Council for Leading Edge Institute which mentors and encourage college women in the state of Alabama to graduate, serve their community and become politically active within the state of Alabama. She also served as President of the INROADS, Inc. Birmingham Alumni Association and trained potential candidates as a mock-interviewer. She has spoken at different events to encourage the youth and has taught art classes to various ages (which leads back to her fine art roots).
